Controller's Comments

  • Time was spent ensuring the right controls were in the right place on the morning. Obvious point but did result in three changes on the ground. Controller must run the master map and check both control descriptions and control numbers.
  • Noted comments on putting control numbers 90 and 60 close to each other, although planner went back out onto course to ensure the ‘underlines’ were clear.
  • Descriptor on control number 39 was wrong (see planners comment below). Rectified on the day by hand!
  • Slight debate on position of control number 67 (boulder). Didn't cause too many problems, but could be mitigated on remapping second boulder (not on map).

Planner's Comments

  • Slightly fixed on admin area (and start/finish) but worked on anti-clockwise course direction in order to fit in longer legs for brown and blue in the mid/second third of the race. The long legs (blue and brown) were designed with route choice in mind. This probably worked with the brown (best time for red line was 7.33, best time using path to south was 8.30) – see route gadget. Not sure it worked fully on the blue.
  • It's acknowledged that some of the areas needed remapping (forestry works and undergrowth) but vegetation boundaries pretty accurate.
  • Hope you enjoyed the boulders (I did!).
  • There will be opportunities to remap the ‘technical’ area (shaded as open ground) in the centre of the map – to east of OOB area.
  • The blue course was slightly adjusted before printing to keep people out of the forestry works – this accounts for the oversight in matching the control description to control number 39.
