How do I join?

Simply download and print out the Application Form and send it to the Membership Secretary. You may want to look at the British Orienteering membership structure document before completing the form. If you join from September onwards you receive up to 16 months membership for the price of 12.

What do we do?

Who can join?

Membership is open to all past, present or even future Army personnel, their dependants and anyone else who has connections with Army orienteering. Annual membership runs from 1 Jan to 31 Dec each year.

What types of membership are there?

Club Only membership, Local British Orienteering membership or Full National British Orienteering membership are available. By joining British Orienteering you can get subsidised entry into most events (event discounts for local members are limited to events in their own Region), subsidised subscription to CompassSport magazine and discounts from many retailers. National British Orienteering members are eligible to enter the British Championships. Further details are available in the British Orienteering Membership Structure document.

What does it cost?

Club only -   £8 per year

Local British Orienteering  - £16.50 per year

National British Orienteering  - £24.50 per year

There may also be an additional Regional Association fee for British Orienteering members depending on the Region you join - see the Membership Form.

What else does the club do?

The club runs events in its own name, on behalf of the AOA, or British Orienteering and its regions.

Protecting the organiser of events in which civilians participate by registering the event as a club event in the British Orienteering insurance scheme. THE MOD WILL NOT ACCEPT LIABILITY in most cases.

Can I join another club as well?

Yes, you can be a member of two clubs. most BAOC members tend to join British Orienteering through BAOC and then also join either a local club where they are stationed or remain as a member of their home club.
